Hello All!
First time chicken momma here, with four week-old chicks. Have loved chickens for years but was never in a position to own or raise them until moving to SW Michigan and having our city recently change laws and give out a few permits for backyard hens!
Feeling very ready with years of research under my belt, but nothing beats joining a community of experienced owners full of knowledge and willing to help.
I have a Barred rock, Buff Orpington, Black Australorp, and got a RIR thrown in for free. Sadly my Ameraucana chick did not survive shipping, but I am being sent another at the end of July along with a Black Copper Marans, and a Welsummer (all sexed females).
I am here to see plenty of pictures and posts to gain ideas and inspiration! I had to throw a prefab coop up in order to quickly snag my permit, but I plan to build a larger one in the next year!

You’ll find lots of friendly helpful folks here! We are all a little poultry crazy in our own way. Don’t be affraid to ask questions and share pictures and stories. We never tire of all things feathered.
Thank you! I'm glad I found this forum, I read through for a few days and I'm not sure why I didn't make an account day one!
