Hello all
I have 4 chicks coming to me on April 25th. I have been reading my eyes out learning as much as I can before they come. So that being said I have some questions that I cant find answers for.
After the 60 days is over and the chicks are ready to move from the brooder to the coop. Should I close off the nesting boxes for awhile to train them to not sleep in there. Also should I have a lower roost for them. I am currently building my coop and was going to place a roost at 2 ft and 4 ft off the ground.
Thanks for your help

at 2 months old they should be fine to jump up on the roosting pole at 2ft depending on the breed. Mine are 2 weeks old and I'm bout to put a top on my horse trough Im raising them in. Closing off the nesting boxes will be a good idea for now if they are that young so its less to clean and they wont be laying for a bit. Unless you want to give them a bit more room you could shut it off at night. Welcome and congrats
