Hi all,

We recently have purchased and moved into our own acreage, and are loving every minute of it. We have built ourselves our first chicken coop ( not super fancy.. but room for improvement is always a good thing), and last weekend purchased our first pair of Silkie Chickens. They're names are Montika and Iggy.
Next weekend we are getting some bantams to add to the the coop as well and some guinea fowls.

So I'm completely new to the whole chicken world. But we are excited and already very smitten with our two little fluffy's!!

Oh! we are located near Brisbane in Queensland Australia too, if there are any other queenslanders here too?

Greetings, MandeePandee, and :welcome. Great to have you here. There are indeed a good number of Aussies on BYC. Look in the link below - I know there are a couple threads for your country. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
And as a new chicken person you also might want to peruse the Learning Center below. Tons of great info to get you where you need to be in a hurry.

Finally, you mentioned guineas so here's a link to the guinea fowl thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/45/guinea-fowl
Best wishes and enjoy your poultry! :)

G'day and welcome to Backyard chickens. BYC has a large Aussie community and always room for more. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
