Hey,
I have 10 Rhode Island Red hens, 2 Ameraucana hens, and 1 Ameraucana rooster. They are all about 5 months old now and I am getting 4-5 eggs a day from the Rhodies, none from the Ameraucanas yet, which are a week younger than the Rhodies. I am putting the finishing touches on their coop which was originally a coop, then converted to a garden shed when we moved here 22 years ago, and now back to a coop.
I have been lurking for a while and have learned a lot, and have incorporated lots of the ideas that I found here (and there) in my coop (floating roost, short nesting boxes, automatic chicken door, lots of stuff). I'm still working on some features, but the coop is almost complete.
This seems like a really good forum. Glad you are all here.
