Hello everyone. I’m new to the group, I’ve had chickens for about 3 years with the idea of just having fresh eggs, but as things happen with me I started wanting to learn about breeds, colors, basically genetics. I use to raise and show Chihuahuas in conformation so I know some about genetics but I am finding chickens are a totally different ballgame. I am a vet tech, have 5 dogs and 26 chickens(mixture of large fowl and bantams). I would really like to concentrate on Buff and Chocolate Orphingtons in large fowl and Buff, Buff Mottle in Cochin Bantams. My main question right now is there a good source for learning about chicken genetics I.e. conformation, color, temperament, etc. I am not having a lot of luck searching for info.

I have a ton of questions but I am not sure what threads to post them too or even how a forum like this works. Any guides, info, help would be greatly appreciated.

There are folks here who are into chicken genetics as well.
Go to the Forums page and search through their titles until you find one that you think fits and start a new thread to ask your questions. Good luck.
