Good Afternoon!! I am new to the group. I grew up with chickens until I was about 8, now as an adult I am raising chickens 
I am so excited. I stated out hatching the eggs in my classroom, I live in Virginia and can only keep 6 in my neighborhood and they have to be hens so I am waiting to find out what they are before taking the others to the farm I got the eggs from. I am so excited but sick of the brooders smell already!! I have a 10x6 pen/run and the coop is being built from the outside to give them more room. I am also hoping to eventually add a duck or two. four of the nine chicks as so social, they come alive and talk and try and fly out to visit my students. This is by far one of the best experiences I have had.
