Hi, I am not new to chickens, as I don’t have any (yet haha). I am interested in learning more about them to raise for personal uses (eggs and meat), but am also interested in learning about other raising birds such as quail, pheasant, chukkar for hunting purposes, and although I am pretty sure my husband would file for divorce, peacocks.
I have been married forever (over 30 years), and all four of my children are grown. I guess that makes me an empty nester (pun totally intended). Now my children are furry - no cats anymore, but we now have six dogs, three which are house pets and three that are trained bird dogs.
One of my hobbies is that I seem to collect hobbies - I have gone through the crocheting phase, the knitting phase, the sewing clothes phase, quilting, gardening, stained glass and glass fusing. I think you get the idea. I have jettisoned them all except the gardening and glass work - those are here to stay. In addition to my personal hobbies, I enjoy hunting and fishing (although not a lot of time for this one) and sausage-making with my husband. We have a lot of fun working together on this and make some pretty tasty stuff.
I still have a day job - I work as an automation coder for a law firm, but soon we are about to move out to some rural property we purchased so I was hoping to learn more about keeping birds. I will be keeping my day job and working remotely (yea!!!) but hope to find some time for a little farm life too.
I heard about BYC through MyShireFarm on YouTube.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
