Hi. My name is Trisha. I belonged to this site several years ago, then spent 5 years living in places where owning birds was an impossiblity. We recently moved to a place where we have room to keep chickens again, so here I am.
We currently have 9 hens. Most of them are RIR; 2 are olive eggers. They live in an old shed that was here when we bought the property. We're hoping to upgrade to a homemade coop some time this year since a metal shed can get pretty darn hot in the daytime, the door is way too large, and the roof has no overhang. I don't think the birds care as much as we do.
Within the next few weeks we will be acquiring 3 Serama pullets and one cockerel. I'm looking for plans to build them a coop and run that won't cost too much money since I don't want to keep them in with the bigger birds. We aren't really supposed to have roos in town but he's rather quiet compared to my previous roosters so I doubt the neighbors will complain, especially since we share eggs with them.
I look forward to getting to know some of you and learning more about this new-to-us breed.
