Has anyone ever had a hen be mean to there peeps? Well to the shared peeps. I had one hen go broody which half way through I ended up with three broody all sharing a nest. They didn't crack any eggs but now that they are hatching they have pushed three out of the nest, I did put them back except one because it looked pecked and had feathers missing. I had the little guy out for hours but put it back because all it did was peep in our temporary holding place, it had a heat lamp food and water but it seemed so sad unless I was holding it

:welcome from Mossyrock, Washington state... anytime you take peeps from comfort of their mates it will cause fear and loud peeping new mamma's can be rough on peeps congratulations with what you have done so far

I hope I did the right thing, I didn't put the peep back until the area where the feathers where missing was dry and the peck hole so to speak was looking better. I'm just so afraid when I check the coop tomorrow it will be on the ground dead

Thank you all is quiet so far, hopefully with night coming it will give the peep a chance to heal with momma B

I always like to err on the side of caution. It may be hens fighting over the chicks, or maybe broody mama did it. In either case I would brooder raise it. Give it a mirror so it thinks it has a buddy, and a nice soft stuffed toy to cuddle with. If there are more chicks and none get hurt, I would put one chick in with the lonely one.

Night coming, only means you may not find another injured one or worse, one till morning.
