Hi yall I'm new to the site and new to having my own flock, but not new to chickens, we had them on my dad's farm growing up! I have always loved chickens but couldn't get close to them as a kid because you never knew who would be dinner. Now I have 25 hens and 1 rooster all of my own and have turned into the crazy chicken lady lol!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Congratulations on getting chickens! Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of chickens did you get?

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Your dad's old farm sounds just like my grandparent's farm they used to have. (That is the place where I fell in love with poultry.) They had tons of chickens but you could never touch them or even get near some of them. But they were so fun to watch and get eggs from.

What breeds do you keep?

Glad you joined us!

You're welcome. You have a nice mix of breeds. Golden Comet is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links and they are laying machines. You should get loads of eggs from those girls. :o) If you want your unknowns identified, post their pics on our What Breed or Gender is This? section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this and let our experts there take a look at them. Good luck with your flock.
