Hey guys I'm new this page and to the farm life!! Lol! This is my first round with chickens and I love it so far!! I have 7 21week old Rhode Island reds and one lonely longhorn that's a few weeks younger. Got my first egg 3 days ago!! Super stoked about that!!!

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

I'm so glad to hear you are enjoying your flock! How come your leghorn is lonely? Is it because here are none other like her? I have an EE with the same issue. All the other chickens have friends and buddies within the flock but she has always been the loner. But, sometimes that's just how it works.

I got her and another RIR from a friend a few weeks ago who waited to get rid of some of her flock and the RIR just settled right in with the others. My lil lonely longhorn want let me touch her, runs from the other chickens and pretty much stays to herself. I'm hoping she'll get more active with the flock but who knows she may just be a loner! Lol! She looks healthy, pretty and white! Eats fine and gets plenty of water!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you joined the flock!

Maybe your leghorn is getting bullied when you aren't around. That sometimes happens when a bird is different than the others. Your RIR's have established a pecking order, and the younger leghorn has to find a place in it. You really need to have a slow integration period - so the older birds can see but, not touch her. Eventually they will get accustomed to her and squabbles should be minimized.
