Hello, I am new to the site, and enjoy reading how you all tend to your flocks.
I have 12 hens 1 rooster and 2 turkeys. Mixed breeds. I love all of my babies, I’ve had them all since they were only 3 days hatched. They are 7 months old today. I have been treating a couple of my faverolles for bumble foot. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to BYC. Maybe try using the site search function for further information. Here are some generally helpful links:

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Bumblefoot takes quite a while to heal. Once you dig out the infection, it needs to be wrapped in vet wrap, checked, cleaned, ointment applied and rewrapped daily for the first couple weeks. After a couple weeks you can do this routine every 3 days, however it takes 4 to 5 weeks for the scab to naturally fall off and the wound healed completely.

If you have several birds with bumblefoot that have swelling between the toes, its possible they have MS, a bacterial infection.

Vitamin A deficiency can also cause thin skin on the pads leaving them vulnerable to bumblefoot.

Good luck with your flock and welcome to ours!
