hi im jaxs from the uk and been wanting to keep chickens for a long time i now have the means to start but after reading alot on how to keep chickens it seems like its complicated any advice will be greatly appreciated :) where do i start what hens are the best and can i mix them with different breeds ,,
im wanting to start keeping hens that lay eggs just not for pets ,,in the past ive kept quails they were easy lol

In my opinion the best breeds of chickens for newbies are
->Rhode Island Reds
->Copper Maran
->Buff Orpington
-?Golden Lacy

I feel in today's world keeping chickens is overrated, they are actually some of the easiest livestock to raise, and definitely very rewarding. Sure things can go wrong but for the most part it's easy sailing.

Thank you for you replys , cant wait to get started its our winter in the uk at the minuet so i waiting on coop to be delivered then ill be looking at hens :p
