In the Brooder
Hi, just joined today but have been coming to this page for a few months now so decided it was time to join. I live in maine and currently have 39 chickens and a couple turkeys, along with rabbits, dogs and cats haha I homeschool my 3 kids (1st grade, kindergarten, and preschool) and integrate all of the animal's care into their homeschool so has been fun. For chickens we have had them for 5 years now, buff orpingtons, auracanas, australorps, black stars and our newest members are silkie bantams. Also currently have the 2 Bourbon Red hens and are focusing on expanding them this year. Looking forward to continuing to expand our knowledge here and hopefully help out when we can.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
! Great to have you in our community! Awesome that you are involving your kids with chickens...lots of great lessons to be learned! Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!
