Hello,
I have 4 turkeys and I need help on them, we got them today and they are big chicks and we also have 50 meat chickens and we have them together. Is this ok that the chickens are together with the turkeys? and is it ok to have them on chicken starter food as well? also if it is not ok to feed them chicken starter what kind? and what temps do i need to keep them at??

Thanks for the Help

i would not house them with the meat chicks. meat chicks make LOTS of poop and moisture!

feed the turkey poults a high protein feed until you process them.

28% if you can find it.

keep the brooder lamp at a position in which the poults are spread about comfortably. not piling together, but not panting or trying to get away from the heat either.

make sure they are eating and drinking just as you would chicks.

Because you have so many chickens, I would separate them. I have 2 turkey and 13 chickens and raised them together with no problems other than the turkey think they are chickens and vise-a versa...they all get along...they free range together and roost. I like they turkey so much that I'm down sizing the chickens to 6 and replacing them with turkey...then I will separate. I figure in the 1800's they got along and buying birds isn't the expense...feeding them is.
I was born and raised in Grand Rapids...so I know where your at in MN. Enjoy the mosquito's and your short summer's, July is almost over and Indian Summer is right around the corner...then comes snow.
