New to veterinarians, what to expect?

I agree with the other posters. The poor thing could just be sad and lonely, as any of us would be following the death of a friend. Before assuming she's sick -- which could, of course, be true -- so long as her condition isn't worsening, the first thing I'd do would be to try to get her some friends.

Does she have favorite comfort food? Maybe if you invested in something like a jar of live mealworms from Petco -- no healthy chicken can resist! -- and fed her a few at one or two structured times of the day, it would give her something to focus on & look forward to every day. Just a random thought...

Something to consider when selecting a vet to take your chicken to:

In my experience, many of the clinics or hospitals that take chickens often have only one vet on staff who sees birds, which means that if you have an emergency on a day that vet is off, you're kinda screwed.

The veterinary hospital I take my chickens to, all the vets there are trained on birds, but there's been a couple times they've been fully booked and recommended me to other practices and those other practices only had one avian vet and I swear, every time this happens, their bird vets are away at a convention or something.
