Hi all. Im from Cornwall in the UK and im hopefully going to hatch my own chickens soon. I collected my hatching eggs today and the incubator is due tomorrow. I have hundreds of questions. You will get fed up with them all lol. Ive been reading some of the advice in the learning centre. But there's lots to learn!

Will need to set up the coop and run also for when my chooks are old enough.

I'm very excited and looking forward to picking everyone's brains.

Hi :welcome from Yorkshire UK

Glad you could join the flock! How exciting for you to be incubating some eggs :celebrate I'm an incubating addict, it's so much fun and super exciting when you see your chicks hatch. Hatching eggs 101 is a great article on incubating. If your incubator is coming tomorrow I would say that you run it for at least 24 hours before setting your eggs so it has time to settle and get to the correct temp and humidity. I would also reccomend a second thermometer and hygrometer just to double check as many say factory set but they are not. What eggs are you setting? What incubator are you getting?

Be sure to ask all the questions you need to everyone here to help and very friendly. The incubating section of the forum has some very knowledgable members. Here is the link https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/5/incubating-amp-hatching-eggs

Wishing you the very best of luck with your incubation I hope you have a great hatch.
Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Thanks ive been reading hatching 101. But confused by some things on there like not cleaning the eggs.

I've just checked out the incubator and I've never seen it before or have experience with it. Usually the cheaper they are the more babysitting you have to do with them. Have you checked out the Incubator shop? Here is the link for them http://www.theincubatorshop.co.uk/ I use them regular and they are very good. They do next day delivery too if you order in the morning. I would certainly go for the Brinsea over the cheaper model. I started with a cheaper model and had varied results due to the incubator not been set correct on the thermostat. I had to add a thermometer and hygrometer as it was just way off. I upgraded to the Brinsea and have not looked back since. Allthough more expensive you really get what you pay for. Which Brinsea were you looking at? I don't think they do a 10. There is the mini Eco or advance which is a 7 hen egg capacity then next up the octagon Eco or advance 20 which is a 24 hen egg capacity.
You could post pics of the incubator in the incubating and hatching section to see if other members have had experience of it https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/5/incubating-amp-hatching-eggs

Thanks. I did look at the incubator shop. But the Brinsea mini advance they are selling is the old 7 egg. The new style holds 10 eggs.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Hope you are able to find an incubator. X2 on have loved my Brinseas.
