I do think I may have seen a bit of bloody droppings on the cuckoo maran.... so how do I treat with Corid? I wish they would show symptoms & show them early enough in the day to take them two hours away to be tested

I feel like throwing up this all has me so upset!

I found a pint of corid for $15.95... hope that is a good price.

I dosed 1 tsp: 1 gallon water. Can I put good bacteria in the water too with the corid? I wasn't sure, so I sprinkled it on their food.

Still the only ones I have lost were Ideal chicks. I wish I had just hatched out my own or bought local.... the ones I have hatched or bought local have all done well.

So 2 tsp is ok for chicks? I had read conflicting info, so I went with the smaller amount. I will keep the water changed every 12 hrs. Do I do the 5 day or 10 day course?

Thanks!

You don't want to put probiotics in water, no matter what the label says. Put it on a quickly eaten treat - which can be damp. If you use powder, maybe mix a little cooked oatmeal and the probiotic - just a tiny bit so that you know they all get some and it gets in them quickly. (IN the case of suspected coccidiosis, you do actually want to avoid higher protein treats like eggs - otherwise eggs would be a good way to give probiotics for example if you were treating for something respiratory instead...for future reference...or when they're healthy.)

I've never had problems with Ideal chicks with coccidiosis. They just tend not to be bred to standard and are smaller less correct birds. But for pets, I still love them. And my layers produce very well.
