Hi everyone, I lead a Platoon of volunteers in my community. Thru the missioncontinues.org I have taken a High School as our very first project. We recently improved their garden and now looking to add a chicken coop. We are a non for profit organization led by veterans but working together with community members. I have very little experience with chickens and will only help with building their coop. One of the teachers has lots of experience and their goals is to raise 30 to 45 chickens.

I hope to learn from all of you and maybe someone can point me in the right direction on finding free plans.

Thank you

Hi Joel and welcome to BYC.

On this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archives

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at - https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/website-announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3/?prefix_id=3

You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes

Hi Joel, make yourself at home here and always feel free to ask questions. Pork Pie Ken has given you some good links. You may also be interested in checking out the Coops section where members have posted photos and information on their coop builds:

Best of luck!
