raising chickens since april 2012
Well I am new to this community. Of course like everyone on here, I LOVE my chickens!! I started growing my flock in April of this year with a newly hatched chicken that was the runt of the pack. I ended up with her because she had an eye infection and the other chickens in the flock were pecking her to death. Even though she hatched from a white egg, I'm fairly certain she is mostly barred rock or domique. (I'll have to post pictures later) Soon after that I ended up with a rooster so she would have someone to be with. He wasn't very nice to her so he went to the chopping block. After that I ended up with one of my moms roosters because they were getting ready to kill all of their roosters and she wanted to keep him alive because he is sooo sweet. I believe he is a leghorn. Now about a month ago I got a few more chickens. (funny how you start off with one and end up with a bunch) I got 3 but I'm not sure what they are and I am unsure of their age, though I believe they are adolescents. I love my chickens sooo much and I hope to be able to grow my flock.
