Hello all, my family and I just recently left the rat race of the big city and have moved out to Eastern CO in the middle of no-where. I have three little ones (one is old enough to start 4h this year) and we are building our new homestead 95 percent ourselves. I won't bore you with the details but other then the concrete work we are doing it all and the next thing on our list is to start filling our coop that we are building now. We were told this is the place to come for advice and when experienced enough give it... so here we are. Thanks

Welcome. There's a bunch of us in CO. Most are in the front range but there are a few out E. Introduce yourself over there and you might get a local hit. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/68894/colorado

You might have to work to find some show quality birds as most of us are raising mixed breed or hatchery layers. I do have wheaten and blue wheaten ameraucanas if you ever want to try hatching some eggs.

I'm glad you joined our community.

I hope the coop building goes well! Have you thought about what breeds you want yet?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join to our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your coop built.
