Hi everyone! I just built my first coop and filled a brooding pen with 10 Cinnamon Queen chicks....hope to enjoy some fresh eggs!

Welcome to BYC!

You should get plenty of eggs with your new flock. Hope you enjoy having them.

Good luck to you and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you very much

I do have a question.... Bought feed for my new chicks and I noticed that they peck at it and then drop it. Then they try to peck again but it gets lost in the bedding. Is my feed size too big or is this normal?

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Do you have Chick Starter Crumbles? They should be kind of like bread crumbs, maybe a little bigger. Chicks will play with food and drop it all over the place. You might try smashing it into smaller pieces if you think they aren't eating enough, but it is probably normal. You can also put the feeder on a plate etc, so they get another chance to eat the food before it hits the bedding.

Yeah they are about bread crumb size and they seem to like it as they eat good and drink well. I think I will try a small saucer for a couple days. Really enjoying it. Thanks!
