Hi, I am new to the chicken world. We tried about 2 years ago and lost them to a predator (our Great Dane). We have revamped, done coop research, and lost the dog that was the predator. I am so excited to have new chicks. I am building their coop this weekend, they are still boxed in the protection of our screened porch. We have 2-5 weekers, and 2-3 weekers. I can't wait to get these guys in and think about more. I have definitely been bitten by the chicken bug.
I also have a silly husband, 1-15 month old daughter, 2 very docile dogs left, and 1 cat. Oh and a turtle on the lam.

I'm so excited for you starting over! Aren't these little fuzz balls addicting?!?! Show us some pics of those chicks and please post pics of your coop as you build it! We all want to see it.

These were the little guys when they first got all set up here. I wasn't even done getting their bedding in yet. I just had to take pictures.
Hopefully this weekend will be coop starting!

Welcome to BYC!! Great to see you're already addicted ... much less work for us:lol:

I love the pictures .. they really are the cutest chicks. How are they getting along with the different sizes?

They are doing really well. The little ones really want to be with the bigger ones, they cuddle up to them, I saw the polish try to lie down under the silkie, it was funny. I give the big ones yard time every day, I figure it at leasts gives them time away from the pesky babies (and good bug eating time). They all sleep together and the cochin and polish squeeze in between the brahma and silkie.

So cute! I have some in the bator that may be half polish and some frizzle polish hatching at a friends house. I've been at this a month and a half and I have learned so much here that I am becoming an expert. This forum is great! I already have 40...not counting the ones at my friend's house. They are way beyond addictive.
