Just thought i would say hi as i am new to this forum :) so a big hi to everyone. My eggs are also due to hatch tomorrow and i am a little excited to say the least. Incubation has gone well (i think), but still a little worried as to what to expect!

I am expecting 2 Buff Pekin Bantams to join my Black tails :)

Welcome (from one newbie to another). I have just about survived my first hatch (started with 7 cream legbar eggs - ended with 4 chicks and one egg still in incubator - 2 did not develop, so not a bad result).

If I could offer any advice it's not to worry too much. I seemed to spend the last two days thinking of everything that could go wrong. I had 2 that pipped and then did nothing but get kicked around by my first chick for 24 hours. And then, just when I thought they were long gone, they both zipped and hatched to join the party.

Now, I know I've been lucky and things can go wrong, but it taught me a lesson. I nearly jumped in to help them and I would probably have made things worse for them and the others too.

Good luck and enjoy it.

Let us know how you get on, I'm going for a lie-down (a long one).

Oh, and I forgot to say......

Whether or not anything does go wrong you are in the right place. A lot of good advice on this forum.

Aww thanks for your encouraging words. I am not one for patience, but it is reassuring to know that it can take a while. I am sure i shall still be up in the night to check on them lol i shall update tomorrow :)

I'm on my second hatch. I had 30 hatch of the 41 I put in but I knew the rooster/hen ratio wasn't great.

I,too, thought I'd have trouble sleeping but I slept like a baby. I knew those chicks would be ok in the bator while I slept.

I hope all goes well for you with this hatch.

You were right, i did sleep like a baby :) Woke up all excited.... But no sign of them this morning either, but it's fine, they will come out when they are ready so i am just going to have to keep myself occupied today lol easier said than done i think!

OK so now i woke up and the cheeping has stopped! Is this bad news for my chicks or are they just resting?

They could just be resting. I wish mine would start making some noise. They are due later today. Not a sound from them yet. I wouldn't stress until they are 3+ days late. And chicks when hatching will work on getting out for a while then rest. It's hard work could you imagine trying to break through a shell?

I have herd and seen nothing all day today! Have just got a horrible feeling something has happend to them :( they were due yesterday evening so i know its still early days, but for them to be moving n cheerping and now not to be doing annyything, is a little concerning :( Is that actually possible? Thanks
