Newbie Chicken and Duck parent.

Hello all,
This is my first time owning chickens "1 rooster and 1 hen" and a duck hopefully I will do well. My parents gave them to me due to them not having the time or space. I did lots of reading on the web and found this site "Thank God" this site has been a lifesaver! I will hopefully be adding a few more hens when I get more educated and comfortable. I'd hate to mess up or do something wrong to cause harm to these sweet babies. They are the sweetest and love to be petted. I can't wait to learn more from you all!!

Hopefully you can get some more hens soon so the rooster doesn't get too amorous with the one hen.

Hopefully you can get more hens so the Rooster doesn’t over mount that one hen. I also hope you get another duck as ducks are extremely social.

Thanks everyone, we are looking to add about 4 or 5 more hens also another duck. She has always been the only duck with the 1 rooster and before we got them it was 2 hens for about 2 years.

A rooster can handle 10 hens, so 1 hen is going to be badly over bred.
