Hello all we are entering day 18 at 11:00 this morning. Should I put them in lockdown this morning or wait until the end of day 18? Also how do you keep the humidity up when you are not supposed to lift the lid? We are using a little giant with an egg turner. We are so nervously excited!

Exciting!! Good luck!! You can put them in at any point. I usually do mine in the evening so that I can see better when I candle and mark the air cells for lock down. Make sure that you take the egg turner out and lay them on the grate, (unless you are using egg cartons to hatch in.) I fill the water wells and add a couple wet sponges (on the grate/mesh, not under it) for humidity. If I need to bring my humidity back up I pull out a sponge, wet it and stick it back in. You can open the bator if you need to, especially to keep your humidity up. Not opening the bator is a precaution, and it will keep your humidity up longer if you are not opening it. However if you need to, it is NOT the end of the world.

Thank you so much! I think I will wait until this evening to put them in lockdown. I always wondered where people put the sponges, glad to hear it is on the rack so I can wet them easily. I just checked on them and I saw an egg wobble!
