We finally finished our Chic Shack and yard. Saturday we got 1 rooster "Mr. Roo Roo" and 9 Ladies, don't really know what kind they are,and it really doesn't matter, we are enjoying watching them. So far we have gotten 3 eggs. The yard is 20'X28'and the coop has 6 nesting boxes, is that enough room for 10 chickens? I have been reading the post on here and really enjoy looking at the photo's. Will be asking questions as I get more into the Chic way of life LOL. Here are some pics of our coop and chickens...

! Great to have you aboard! Actually, for 10 chickens you probably only need 3 or 4 boxes. I have 18 hens and the eggs are always in 3 or 4 boxes. Good luck to you!

Thanks so much redsoxs, we plan on getting some more, these were given to us. I would like to pick the ones I want when we find some one close to us so we can go pick them up, I think it is to hot to ship them now..

wow nice digs for your chickens. I clicked on your photo to see it larger, you have a beautiful flock. I think they would get a kick out of some amusement in that large run, like tree stumps, boulders , bench etc. They like to hop up and down . Maybe you could plant some bushes here and there and a small growing tree or two. This would provide them with shade and places to hide if a hawk comes calling.

You could even get them a plastic sandbox so they have somewhere to dust bathe. They will trash your grass but, that's what chickens do.
