Hi There!
I got my first 3 chicks (2ee, 1rir) after about a year of lurking here, Reddit, and Facebook chicken groups.
I had friends with chickens growing up and we used to get a handful to raise until they got their feathers so not totally new to chickens, but new to actually being responsible for them besides making them friendly.
I’ve got a veggie garden to grow them their treats (including strawberries, raspberries and blueberries which I’ve seen mentioned as favorites a few times) and like to spend my time outdoors backpacking, gardening, and fishing.
The chickens will have my wife, 2 kids, and a cat as room mates. The cat isn’t quite sure what to think about them yet.
Excited to start on this journey and have some outdoor friends to keep me company while I work in the yard.

Thanks for the welcome! We’ve had them for exactly a week and so far so good. Have them on vitamins and electrolytes, going to start working in medicated feed next week (although I got them vaccinated so not sure it’s necessary, but I figure it won’t hurt). One of them seems sneezy and seems to have an excess of cecal poop. I checked her nose and vent, but it seems ok and she’s eating, drinking, and breathing just like the others. Going to keep an eye on her and hopefully I don’t have a “plz halp” post in a few days :) (she’s my wife’s favorite)
