Hi everyone. I have been lurking on this forum for a couple months as DW and I are getting our first chickens this month, 4 Plymouth Rock and 2 RIR's. They are scheduled to arrive June 15th and we have our coop and run part way there and should have it completed within the next 2-3 weeks. The brooder is not yet setup but DW should have that done this weekend. The chickens are mostly for pleasure and eggs for our pups as they love hard boiled eggs. I am sure we will partake in them as well but that is not our primarily focus for getting hens. They will be joining our fur pack of 5 - 3 rescued Greyhounds, a Rat Terrier and a Pug. The chickens will be completely enclosed in their run as we don't want any mishaps.

Welcome to the forum! I bet all of your furbabes would love to get their grips on a delicoius chicken!

We haven't had any issues with our cocker spaniel, but my mini schnauzer would take one down in a heartbeat!

You should post pics of your pups in the all other animals section!!

Welcome! I've been lurking also and just joined yesterday. My chicks are one month old. I also have Plymouth Rocks (four barred and two Columbian) and two Rhode Island Reds. If you had told me a year ago that I would enjoy chickens this much I would never have believed it. They have so much personality! Hope you enjoy your experience as much as I have.
