Hi, all! I've used your site for information about raising chickens since last April when I got eight chickens for eggs and entertain-ment! The information and insight I gained here has been priceless, and more than helpful. In fact, we got our very first egg just today; possibly the most expensive egg in Western, New York history!) The only problem is that I don't know which chicken laid the darn thing! We have two Wyandotte, two Australorps, two Orpington, and one Rhode Island Red, (one died.)
Thus far, I have enjoyed them far more than I would have ever believed! As soon as I open the back door to the house they're lined up in their run squawking and jockying for position to be the first one fed whatever treat I have for them. I've never seen a more curious animal either; they seem to watch everything I do if I'm near enough to them, the closer I am, the more interested they become. I already have plans for biilding a larger encloser for them next year, since I live in a City, I can let them run free, even if I do have 16 acres.
