Hi everyone. I have been browsing behind the scenes for a bit and finally decided to join. Very good site with so much information. I currently DO NOT have any chickens, but am planning to when I retire and so am doing my research way in advance. Also, because where I live in the urban part of Ottawa in a townhouse subdivision, it would be difficult and probably illegal to have them. #BIG SIGH#
I was indroduce to chickens when my sister had a hobby farm and raised meat birds and layers, along with lamb, ducks and she also had a horse and dogs and cats. I loved to spend time there...especially with the chickens LOL They are so entertaining and comical.

Having a few layers would be so fantastic...so I keep dreaming and planning of the day.

Cheers!

Thanks for the welcome. I am still trying to decide what my "dream team" girls will be. Then I can begin to plan the coop design and attached run. Many things to think about: inside or outside nesting box = how important is it to keep this area warm in colder climants? Having an easy access to the nests is important, that I know. Also important is a design for easy cleaning...as I will be a retired 60+ lady. I will want to be able to enter the coop and run without having to stoop so that means a no-stoop coop LOL.

Once I have my sketch I can ask one of my carpenter family members to build it with me.
