Newbie from Ontario

Hi everyone,

Delighted to have found this site. I'm retiring this year and planning to raise a few chickens next year once we move house, so I'm doing my research for the next few months. I'm in Brampton, Southern Ontario, so finding a coop that will survive a Canadian winter is a priority!

I don't know enough yet to decide that I know I want layers and not meat birds, and that they need to be hardy enough for the winter, but I need to learn more about breeds. Any recommendations?

I live in the desert where it's hot. You might want to ask other people in your area what breed's do well over there.
