Hello, my name is Travis, my wife and I have been raising egg layers for about 5 years now. We are going to try some meat chickens this year. And we are getting different laying chicks this year and retiring our old hens at my mother in laws ranch. So new this year we will have 2 road island reds, 2 barred rocks, 2 buff orpington, 2 austrolorps, and 2 auracana. And for the meat birds we got 10 ranger chickens. We have had barred rocks and auracana in the past and have loved the barred rocks personality and the auracana blue green eggs but this year we wanted to mix it up even more and try these other breeds out as well.
We also raise mini oberhasi goats for dairy and New Zealand rabbits for 4H kids and meat. We don't have allot of property, only an acre so we utilize it the best we can. We are working on another garden this year and got a butcher stear for some beef out at mother in laws ranch. All in all there will be a lot going on this spring/summer. And this website has helped us allot with deciding on chicken breeds, nest boxes, and brooding questions. So we decided to join.
Thank you
ps- we do have a website for our rabbits and may add chickens later on. Here's the link www.HighlandRabbits.webs.com
