So excited to learn from this group. Have so many questions and find a lot of answers here.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes. I’ve grown up around farm animals, but never actually raised my own.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have 4 chicks in my living room brooder right now.
(3) What breeds do you have? We have a Polish, Orpington, Barred Rock and Silkie.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love living a more sustainable life. These ladies will not just provide food and fertilizer for my garden, but also be our pets.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Film photography.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We are a family of 8. Me, my partner, our baby, dog and now 4 chicks! I work for a tech company, so nature is something I crave at the beginning and end of each day.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve known of this forum for a few months as I was preparing for our addition. I’ve gone down the rabbit hole a few times and got lost in all the useful posts.
