I found BackYard Chickens looking for info on our Barred Rock hens(?). We initially got two Barred Rock chicks and two Black Sexlink chicks to start our flock, without knowing what sex they were. We followed a week later with three more Barred Rock pullets and three Rhode Island Red pullets, appearing to be 2-3 weeks younger. Now seven weeks later, the older chicks can hardly be called chicks any longer, as they have grown to be quite large. One of the older BR has a comb and the other doesn't, which has raised the question; is the big Betty really Bert? Being a true newbie, I thought I had better get help.
I just went outside and took this picture. Ok, this is Bert, not Betty

This is Betty

Our coop, built onto the side or our very large garage.
