I was raised on a farm and the chickens were my responsibly from an early age. I absolutely fell in love with them.

My husband and I currently have 10 Dark Brahma chickens, 2 Roo's and 8 Hens. We have 5 BBB Turkeys, 2 Toms and 3 hens, and 7 Lavender Guineas, I don't know who is who yet with them. Everyone is just over 4 months old.

We are currently in the process of building our new home on our 160 acres. We aren't living out there yet, and still live in a small town, with our birds, dogs and cat. Our dream is to homestead and be as self sufficient as possible.

I had never raised turkeys before, and when I bought these BBB's I didn't know how huge they would get and all the health problems they would have. We have a close relationship with each of them. Their personalities are incredible, and we don't want to butcher them. We are trying our best to keep their weight down.

Our Dark Brahmas are incredible too! Even our Roo's are in your lap guys, and absolutely gorgeous!

Our Lavender Guineas are beautiful and very loud, but I knew what to expect as we had them on the farm when I was a kid. Having them in town is a little difficult, but no one seems to mind. We have people stop by and compliment us on all the birds.

I found BYC by googling "how to extend your BBB turkeys life". I am excited to be here with other like minded chicken and other barnyard fowl lovers. I hope I can help others with questions they may have about chickens.
