Hi, I'm Cris (somebodysmom) and I live near Prescott WI. I'll start with the recommended questions
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes. Ours are about 6 weeks old.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 14
(3) What breeds do you have? Not sure - they came from the farm store so I only know in general - 6 "Easter Eggers", 6 Reds, and 2 possibly Rock Island. The Easter Eggers and reds are supposed to be pullets, the other 2 were from a straight run so time will tell.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Google
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Knitting, spinning, weaving, reading
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband and I are basically "empty nesters" - our youngest is in college and he is only home for the summer. We have 3 cats and almost 11 acres. We both work in St Paul MN and really enjoy getting away from the city at night and weekends.
We have talked about getting chickens for several years and this year we finally did it. My husband's boss has been supplying us with farm eggs and we just can't get enough! I know I have a lot to learn and I'm looking forward to the coming weeks and months.
Cris.
