I incubated some eggs for a friend and I had a very poor hatch. One healthy chick and the next day one not so healthy chick. The healthy one pecked the others butt and gave it a huge wound plus pecked it’s eyes and they were shut the next morning. We had to put the second chick down.

So this first chick has been alone for a little less than a week. Last night a duck hatched. I put it in the brooder in a separate little box of its own.

Today I picked up two chicks at Wilco so it could acclimate to other birds. I put them in and the first chick immediately started pecking at the eyes of the new chicks who are bigger!

I know I can do more reading and I know about the search function. I just need some tips and tricks to help this smooth out. Please and thank you

That sounds like a crazy little chick but chickens can get very territorial and as far as (hes) concerned thats (His) house and when you introduced the two new ones (he) had to defend it. I'd say separate them for now so they can see each other but not hurt each other and give them a few days to a week until they don't seem to care about each other. Then try introducing them in a neutral space and rearrange the house before putting them back in. I've only had three clutches of chicks so far but thats what I would try.

I agree , keep them in the same place but no touching. This chick sounds crazy , I hope she calms down .

You could also take them all to a bigger place to play , put their feed on the grass so they’re distracted , see if they can co exist ...good luck

After a day of supervised time together the chick calmed down and stopped pecking. The two chicks I picked up were super protective of the duckling and corrected the chick.
The chick and duckling were picked up last night by their owner who I hatched them for.
Now it’s just my 5 chicks. Soon to be six after I pick up my last one today after work.
