Hello! I'm a child of God, wife of Mr. Right and mom of 11 arrows....
I also have some chickens. Well, I should say HAD. I now have 1 roo... the whole flock was recently wiped out and I don't know why.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We had chickens for almost a year.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

(3) What breeds do you have?
We currently keep Longhorns, but are planning to begin a new flock of Buff Orpingtons. Once we figure out what killed the last flock. Don't want that to happen again!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I mainly like them for their eggs and meat. Raising them is pretty simple, until you have some crazy thing happen that wipes out the flock before you can figure out why.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I homeschool, and paint in watercolors. Mostly I just raise kids!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Tid bits: I have 11 kids, 17 to 3mo. I have had two sets of twins, but the first set is in heaven with Jesus, we miscarried them in the first trimester. My second set is just 3 months old. I have 6 kids in our homeschool, grades 9, 7 (x2), 4, 2, 1... plus I have 4 kids three and under. We like to eat real food. I've seen real food cure my daughter of an autism spectrum disorder.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
My hubby told me about the forum. I'm pretty desperate for answers, and you all seem to have alot!
