Hi, I am Danielle. We are looking to get 2 chickens this spring, but we need to build our coop first. I live in West Haven, CT. If anyone has any tips for neighbors that would be great. We live in a pretty tight neighborhood.

Welcome and good luck.
Build a pretty coop and give neighbors eggs. But for that you'll need more than 2 hens. I wouldn't recommend starting with that few. I say a minimum of 2 per family member. You'll eat more eggs when you have fresh ones in your backyard. Chickens are flock animals and need friends. If one dies the other won't do well and it's hard to add more later. Start with the most allowed.

Hi, Danielle, welcome to BYC. With chickens, 3 is better than 2 - if somthing happens to one the remaining birds will still have comapny if you start with 3.
