My name is Tyla and I live in Alabama. I have a flock that adopted me when they escaped from a neighbor who sold off his flock and quit the chicken biz. There were 5 escapees 5 years ago and now we have about 20. They are mixed game breeds which I didn't know at first. The hens are brown with gold rings around their necks and the males are typical game cocks some with large combs and some with rosettes. These chicks roost in the woods and we feed them and take care of them if they get sick or hurt which isn't very often because they are extremely hardy. They seem to be reverting back to jungle fowl. We also have a pet leghorn Whitey who we rescued after he fell off a Tyson truck. I'm glad to find this board as I have a lot to learn.

Hi Tyla and welcome to the board.

It's great to meet other chicken friends. I can't imagine "wild" chickens, but I bet they sure are hardy. Good save on the Tyson bird.
