Newbie in Iowa

My husband and I recently purchased 4 1/2 rural acres with farmhouse, in southwest Iowa, fulfilling a live long dream for me and a dream of my husband since he married me 42 years ago.

I bought six chicks from the local farm store in April. They were supposed to be all pullets but two turned out to be roosters. I have two Rhode Island Reds, two Buff Orpingtons, and two Ameraucanas. I love them to pieces. Both my husband and I are retired and I don't have many responsibilities in my new community (yet) so I have quite a bit of time to spend watching them and interacting with them. They

I'm not sure what happened but my message disappeared before I finished typing and I was surprised to see it posted. LOL

Anyway, I wanted to add, for my other interests, I love doing music. I sing in my church choir, play the autoharp and the harp along with several other folk-type instruments. I have played the tenor drum in a bagpipe band for about 13 years but our move has made it a challenge to get back for practice and gigs. I love to knit and do other needlework and crafts, am a photography nut, and I love to read.
