Hello I'm new to the board.
I've had chickens all of my life, and really got hooked on them whenI was 8 years old and my grandpa gave me a pair of Game chickens. I love Game chickens for their beauty, courage, vigor, and ease of handling- I have never known a Game rooster to be mean to his hens, like so many other breeds. I do like other breeds as well, and like to try out new breeds. Since I was a kid, I have had several different breeds of chickens- Silkies, Cochins(large and bantam, Frizzles too), Brahma bantams, Mille Fluer, Porcelain, Cornish, Rhode Island Reds, Australorps, Giants, Speckled Sussex, Polish, Leghorns, Americaunas, and others.
I currently have 4 laying hens- 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 California white, and 2 Silver-Laced Wyandottes. I am very pleased with the Wyandottes, they are very quiet and thrifty, easy to raise and handle. I entered them at the county fair this weekend, my first time to ever show chickens, and I learned a lot- and I'm now HOOKED on showing chickens!!! I am trying to learn more about showing.
I am also re-building my Game chicken flock, I have a handful of pure-bred Game hens, and a few 1/2 Game hens, and am looking for a nice, perfectly conformed Game rooster. I'd prefer Grey, but a Red Hatch will do as well, and I'd prefer that he not be dubbed. I do NOT support chicken fighting of any kind, I just want to raise my own flock of perfect Game chickens, and show them locally as a hobby. (I had a large flock, but while I was away at college a bobcat ate them all- I obtained some good hens from a friend of my Grandpa's, but haven't yet found a rooster.)
