Hello Everyone,

I've never raised chickens before but have recently ordered 8 Australorp chicks and am very excited! We just moved from the UK with our 3 young children and are excited to fulfil our dreams on our little 4 acres. I look forward to bugging you all with my questions and hope to pass down the favour in a few years when I shall surely be more knowledgeable!
Excited to be here :)

G’Day from down under McCluckycluck :frow Welcome and Congratulations! :clap

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Welcome to BYC, congratulations on your new home, and good luck with your chicks. If you haven't done so already, start on coop construction. Those chicks will grow up rapidly.
So true. I transferred my brooder and 11 chicks from the office to the garage and had to expand taller cardboard panels. My second Coop took longer than I anticipated and I had chickens pecking holes in the cardboard panels and getting out, running around and flying on garage shelves. I had a partially complete coop without the windows, nesting boxes or perch and makeshift run using leftover chain link fence gates...because I was either impatient or didn't calculate the allotted time to make the coop the way it was intended.
