Hello, My name is Ellen and I am completely new to learning about having chickens!
I live in Miami at the moment, but am planning to move to Central Fl so that we can buy a home with approx 2 acres. I have some friends that live in the Redland area here in Miami and they have shown me their coops and chickens etc. I am really looking forward to it. We are unable to afford purchasing our home in the Redland area which is why we are planning a move to Central Fl.
I am very interested in having chickens, but it seems to be a web of confusion as to where you can live and have roosters as well. I definitely want a rooster! Is anyone here familiar with Central Fl? We would want to be within an hours drive (or less, factoring in traffic) of downtown Orlando as that is where my husband would work. I have gone to the laws and ordinances page, but I am still awfully confused :0! If anyone here is familiar with the laws in central fl I would so appreciate some ideas of where to look for a home.
We would like rural, where no one cares if you have gardens, chickens, dogs etc. Money is definitely an object! We hope to keep it in the under 300,000 range. This is a wonderful site, enjoying reading and learning here!
Thank you so much! Ellen
