Hi, my name is CopperPhoenix and I am new to being a chicken mom. I have 3 Australorps, 2 Golden Laced Wynadottes now and am expecting 2 Cream Legbars and a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte later this month. I always thought about having chickens but my experiences with other birds in the past had convinced me that birds hate me. After talking with co-workers who own chickens, I decided to give them a try and am pleasantly surprised that no all birds hate me. I have enjoyed raising them from chicks and watching them change, seemingly every day. I am amazed that they have different personalities and I can tell them apart.
When not taking care of my chickens, I am busy working at a veterinary emergency center, kayaking with my husband, planning and planting fairy gardens and spending time with my two grandchildren.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have shared your experiences and knowledge. While reading books is a great source of information, hearing from those who actually doing it is infinitely better.
