Thank you. It seems like a great place to be.Hello, Jerrica, and welcome to the BYC community.
Yes, those playhouses have been great. Our goat house and one of our large coops were also playhouses before. They are usually easy to put insulation in, lay lament flooring and have windows.Welcome to Backyard Chickens. This is a great place to explore and hang out. What a great idea with the converted playhouse.
Welcome. You can post your need here and we can either help, or direct you to a thread that can help.![]()
Hello from Prineville, OR My name is Jerrica and I have had chickens for about 12 years. I first had chickens around 20 years ago, but then moved and didn't have them for about 8 years.
I currently have about 25 chickens and one rooster. I have two large coops, for two flocks, one small coop that I use as an infirmary, and then a converted playhouse for new moms and babies. Each has there own separate yards. I have different breeds, but mostly Easter Eggers, Sussex, Sex Link, and Lavender Orpingtons.
I love the chickens and their personalities. We have hand raised most of our birds, so they are pretty tame. The rooster doesn't like to be held, but will put up with it if he has too. He is not aggressive (I almost forgot, he is an Australorp). I love getting eggs, but find I have to many and need to give them away to family all of the time.
I love to collect and repair antique oil lamps.
I have been married for 36 years and have 6 (living) children. I have homeschooled, private schooled, public schooled, and charted schooled my kids depending on their needs. I have been involved with various community service groups and love working with youth. I am a strong Christian and love going to church and participating in social events. I have had several occupations over the years. I have a degree in education, but was a phlebotomist for 14 years right out of high school. I moved into education for the next 16 years along with becoming an office manager of a large convention center. I am not taking it easier as an administrative assistant at a local CPA office.
I found BYC through a Google search. I have come to the site several times in the past for information on my chicken needs. I have always found answers here. I decided to join this time, because I have a greater need and would like to post about my situation. Hopefully I can figure out how to go about it and someone here can help. Thank you for letting me join.
