Newbie! Need a little help..

Hi! I have been reading threads on here for the last 4 months, but I decided to finally join today because my rooster seems ill. I think he may have a crop inpactment, though I am waiting til morning to know for sure. The problem is, I am so afraid to try any of the treatment methods because i'm afraid I will do something wrong and hurt him he is my favorite...

My rooster is 4 months old. I don't even know what breed, my husband bought them from the local hardware store when they were probably barely out of their eggs.

Have you checked out "Impacted crop," on the search thread? Several articles should pop up. Also post at "emergencies, disease, injuries, cures," thread. Explain that you would like to know the least invasive methods to follow first. Please post there in full detail, symptoms, how long this has been going on etc. I hope your rooster will be well soon.

I have done lots of reading about it on here, and I have posted in the emergencies section.. not much help coming that way.

Welcome! I am sorry about your Roo. Do you have a bird Vet nearby?

I'm not sure. He is better than before, though his crop is still never empty in the morning the way I hear it should be.

I do not really have any experience dealing with crop issues (knock on wood!) but I am sure someone on BYC does. The forum Drumstick Diva suggested is an excellent place to start.

If you would like to know your cockerel's breed, feel free to post some pics. We might be able to tell you what breed it is.
