what size is the actual building not counting the porch? looks to be maybe 8x12 or maybe 10x16? Do you want to utilize the whole thing as a coop, or did you want to convert maybe half of it and use the rest for storage?

you're not looking at a whole lot of expense either way

I'm not sure of the size. Someone said if I use it, it would smell. The thing is that it has been sitting here unused for 12 years. So, I figure, what's the difference? If it's an epic fail, we're no worse off. So, I'd probably use the whole thing, mainly due to my limited skills. (Hubby not exactly on board yet.)

as long as you maintain the bedding, you can control the smell. i put a poop board with sand and sweet pdz (basically just stall dry) under the roosts, they poop most at night while on the roost. that helps dry it out quick and dry poo don't have the smell wet poo does

study the deep litter method for bedding, occasionally throw some scratch in and let the chickens turn it for you. You really can control the smell with just a little effort. Some people will go months without changing the bedding. I'm at almost a month on mine and there's no smell even going inside to fill the water bucket or feeder
