nw tucson, prince and fairview
I'm thinking about raising laying chickens. I got several books from the library. And be surfacing the net for guidance. I'm more confused. I live on the nw side of Tucson. And I looked in the law. I don't have much room but along side one wall of fence is free of neighbors but is total of 35' from fence to our brick house. Is this lawful to place a medium coop for maybe 4 hens? I'm thinking a narrow long double Decker kind.

I'm sorry I wouldn't know the legalities in your area. You may want to join your state thread and ask others. Have you gone to village or city hall to find out what the ruling is? Welcome to Backyard chickens, I hope you will be able to meet their criterion.

Drumstick diva made a good suggestion about checking on your state thread, here's a link to help you get there:

This article from the Learning Center may be helpful too, it has some good ideas on how to find your local ordinances (and if necessary, how to change them to allow for chickens):

Good luck to you, I hope you can get a small flock!
